Certification and Teacher Training for ESL,EFL,TESOL (in the US)

Almost every country has its own TESOL or TEFL courses. These are organizations offering TEFL/TESL/TESOL teacher training in the US. Depending upon where you intend on teaching, some employers will prefer TEFL courses in the US to courses taken in non-native-English-speaking countries. However, it's really anyone's guess which is the "best" program.

Before choosing a TEFL course, it is sometimes best to look for English teaching jobs and ask the employers themselves if they are familiar with the course and whether they would accept it. It is, after all, the employer who makes the decision to hire the teacher!

The costs of these courses can range from low to high. It's always a good idea to do as much research as you can before paying for any TEFL course, so make sure to take advantage of Internet search engines and bulletin boards and ask if other people have used the same course.

As always, never spend your hard-earned money until you've done your homework! If you see something or run into something you found here and you feel it's a scam or fraudulent in any way, notify me immediately! (You may want to be particularly careful of companies whose sites or email addresses are hosted with free services such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Netfirms, Tripod, Prohosting, Hypermart etc.) Now, good luck! --Kristina
