Employment (Japan)

Ahhh, Japan, land of the rising sun! For many westerners, Japan embodies an exotic grace and timeless beauty that captures our imagination. Japan, like Korea and China, employs many English language teachers. However, unlike its two Asian neighbors, it often requires specific certification and formal education in English. While the JET programme offers a chance for college students to try their hand at teaching in Japan, you'll have the most luck finding a job with a degree specifically related to teaching English, and/or a recognized TESL certificate. This page contains links to sites seeking people to teach in Japan, information from teachers teaching in Japan, various recruitment organizations for Japan teaching jobs, and other information. Note: as always, I cannot stress this enough: Never take a job outside your native country without doing serious research into the recruitment organization, visa requirements, costs, and so forth.

If you suspect that one of the organizations listed below is in any way fraudulent, please click here to email us!
